Grief after loss of a loved one through substance use, whether from accidental overdose, suicide, or murder, is a unique and lonely grief. Our society treats this loss differently from other deaths and there is often judgement and blame from around us.
Because of this, we sometimes carry that guilt and shame and find that there is nowhere to put it. Grief support groups generally do not address the myriad of emotions connected to this special loss and so we are left feeling more isolated and lonlier.
Our Hope After Loss Group is a place where everyone understands. There is no judgement or blame, but rather support ad understanding.
