The Suicide Prevention Program is working to expand opportunities for clinical support related to grief, loss, and postvention services to suicide loss survivors for VA staff and our community partners.
Walking Through Grief is a resiliency training program for professionals encountering or experiencing grief in the workplace. It is a 9-disc DVD series normalizing the grief experience through exploration of topics such as what is grief, how do we grieve, grief and holidays and other special occasions, and charting a course for healing. Intentional in presentation, it includes voices of individuals progressing through the grief journey while facilitating personal reflection on past or present losses, disenfranchised grief, and the losses experienced by those cared for. The final session focuses on postvention and moving forward after suicide loss. This group is facilitated by community Chaplain and Grief Specialist, Lisa DeCandia, and co-led by our internal VA Chaplain. It is open to staff and providers only.
